If you missed the 2nd grade parent meeting, here are a few key points:

  • to request a change of First Communion day or time, email us at re@stteresachurch.org and we will accomodate you if there is availability.
  • we are trying to secure photographers for each of the First Communion Masses. More information will be forthcoming.
  • First Eucharist Retreat Day is Saturday, March 24 from 8:45-11:45AM. All First Communicants are strongly encouraged to attend.

Congratulations to all our 2nd graders on the reception of their First Reconciliation. God bless!

First Reconciliation

Second grade is a wonderful time in a child’s life where they will receive two very special sacraments.  The sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is especially important because we teach our children the power of forgiveness.  Children will make their First Reconciliation in January.

We encourage both parents to attend the reconciliation service.  At least one parent must be present at the service.

First Communion

Receiving Eucharist is one of the most important things we can do as Catholics.  To receive Jesus in our bodies and our hearts each week lets us be like Him in our daily lives.

Our 2nd graders will prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist from February to April.

First Communion Celebrations

·         Each family will be assigned a pew.  This will be done by random lottery.  This is where you and your extended family will sit during the celebration.

·         Your Child’s banner (they will make this at the First Eucharist Retreat Day on March 24) will hang from your pew.

·         Six to Ten children will be chosen by random lottery to read the Prayer of the Faithful during the celebration.  (This is optional: You must choose to have your child placed in this lottery.)

·         Gift bearers will be chosen by random lottery.

·         Before the final blessing all children will come to the altar to sing a song of thanksgiving to Mary.

·         One parent MUST accompany your child at the rehearsal.  During rehearsal we review the entire mass, first communion procedure and practice all music.
