ACRE Survey
During the 5th and 8th grades
of religious education all students will have the opportunity to take the ACRE (Assessment of Catechesis Religious Education)
survey. The purpose of the survey is to see how students understand their Catholic faith and what they do to live it in their
everyday life. The survey itself is divided into content and attitudinal values. Students cannot prepare for the
survey. No individual data will be supplied to us. We will only receive group results in an effort to assess the effectiveness
of our curriculum. The religious education of our children is a team effort with catechesis coming from school and from the
home. It will be helpful to your child to be attending Mass regularly and to be familiar with the parts of the Mass
and the liturgical seasons.
Your child’s
catechist will administer the survey during regularly scheduled sessions this year during February 2012. Grade 5 students
are scheduled to take the test during the week of February 12th. Homeschoolers will be contacted and invited in to take the
survey that week.
The ACRE is a most effective instrument for our Religious Education Office and the Archdioceses of Newark to see
how we are meeting the goals of our program for developing Catholic identity, faith, and values in our children.
